"Guzaarish" movie review

Guzaarish: is a passionately crafted film.

Interestingly, the 3 main pillars of Guzaarish namely Sanjay Leela Bansaali, Hrithik Roshan and Ashwariya Rai bachchan had their last 3 films declared as flops (Saawariya, Kites and Action Replayy respectively). It is amazing how all 3 of them came together to make a magical journey called “Guzaarish”. The fate of the film is still to be decided at the box office but in my personal opinion, this one is the most passionately crafted film I have ever seen.

The story starts off in a typical goan house, with Ashwariya Rai Bachchan (Sophia) waking up Hrithik Roshan (Ethan Mascarenas) and helping him with his morning routines. Ethan is a renowned magician who is now confined to a wheel chair and has a radio program called Radio Zindagi. Sophia, his care taker nurse for 12 years, Suhel Seth as Dr. Nayak who plays as the quadriplegic’s doctor, Shernaz Patel as Devyani Dutta, plays a lawyer and Ethan’s best friend and Omar Siddique played by Aditya Roy Kapur who wishes to learn magic from Ethan, are the main characters in the film. One fine day it occurs to Ethan to end his suffering and asks his dear friend lawyer to file a death petition. Of course, Ethan’s well wishers forbid him from taking this step but he continues to flirt with the thought. It’s a story about ethan’s life and how he lives it to the fullest. It’s a film that will make you fall back in love with life.

"Guzaarish" has passion right from the first frame and to add to it is the brilliant treatment given to it by Mr. Bansaali. Sanjay Leela Bansaali puts on the music directors shoes for the film, creating tracks that are in sync with the movie. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography leaves you spell-bound.

The movie is crafted art so to speak with exquisitely taken shots and the richness of the frames. Hrithik Roshan delivers a powerhouse performance and is the heart of the film, making it extremely lovable. Hrithik surely has some awards lined up his way. Ashwariya, looks gorgeous in her outfits and provides a decent helping hand in the movie. Rest of the cast is passable.

If you want to go and have fun at the cinemas then "Guzaarish" just isn’t for you. It will surely find its place in mature audience, it’s an attempt which will not be liked by everyone, but it is a sincere and touching film. I’m going with 4 out of 5 for Sanjay Leela Bansaali’s “Guzaarish”. Go rediscover life.

Rating: 4/5.
