Dum Maaro Dum is a stylish thriller.
Abhishek Bachchan said in an interview that he was very nervous about DMD because his last 3 films were box office disasters. The reason for their failure was simple, they were badly made films. I think by the end of this week junior Bachchan will be a relaxed man and the reason simple again, this one’s a good one.
Rohan Sippy’s third directorial offering ‘Dum maaro Dum’ is a thriller based on the drug trade of Goa. The story is centered in Goa, starting with a teenage boy Lorry (Pratiek) who gets admission in a foreign university but is unable to go because his funding is denied. He’s friend offers him a drug carrier job in return for a full college fees funding. This being his last option of getting into a overseas university, he does it and in turn gets in trouble with the police. In comes ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek Bachan) to solve the case and in turn get to the drug mafia.
This is the first time a Bollywood film has been mixed in Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. The film is shot in Goa and the beauty of the state is captured quite well. From local Konkani music, rave parties to drug mafia, Sippy redefines Goa on celluloid. Some controversies came up before the release but they were taken care off.
The film’s biggest drawback is the music by Pritam which is not up to the mark and the title track performed by Deepika Padukone was just not required. ‘Te Amo’ is the only hummable tune. In the acting department, Bachan is steady, Pratiek impresses yet again as a 17 year old. But my pick is Rana Daggubati who is doing his debut hindi film who plays a musician and lorry’s friend. Bipasha didn’t have much to do other than look good.
It’s a slick and stylish thriller having a very good 1st half. The story has its up’s and down’s but manages to keep the viewer engrossed. Though released in the season of IPL, it will still manage to draw the audience to the cinema theatres. I am going with 3 out of 5 for Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maaro Dum’. It has enough ‘Dum’ to entertain you.

Tees Maar Khan movie review
Tees Maar Khan: is worth a few senseless laughs.
Undoubtedly, the one of the most anticipated film of 2010, ‘Tees Maar Khan’ is director Farah Khan’s third venture. Her last two films were colossal hits, all thanks to the King Khan. This time, she has made a film with Akshay Kumar, an actor who has struggled for success (both critical and commercial) for the past 2 years. So what does Tees Maar Khan offer you? The answer is absurd humor but it manages to tickle your funny bone too.
Tabrez Mirza Khan aka Tees Maar Khan is a ‘con artist’ as he likes to call himself, a thief who gives the police a run for their money every time he is caught. He gets the job of robbing a train full of antics for a twin gangsters…This is the biggest challenge, Tabrez has ever faced so he makes it a point to make a full proof plan and then go for the kill. TMK does not have a story as such, it just has insane humor.
I felt that Akshay Kumar is regaining form, but still I sincerely request him to leave comedy for some time. Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman the twin gangsters are a waste to an otherwise badly written script, they do nothing but get on your nerves and you surely want to slap them one at a time. Katrina has acted like retard, I wish she was only in the song sequences, showing off her newly made curves. Akshaye Khanna comes as a surprise, delivering a splendid show. Nothing significant from the rest of the cast.
As far as TMK is concerned as a whole, it is irrational, brainless, yet somehow it makes you laugh at least for some time. The film can be best described as shameless fun. Indian audiences love such comedies and It is sure to set the cash registers ringing since it has the holiday season to its advantage. Keep your brains at home, plus go in with low expectations, you might be in for a decent treat.

"Guzaarish" movie review
Guzaarish: is a passionately crafted film.
Interestingly, the 3 main pillars of Guzaarish namely Sanjay Leela Bansaali, Hrithik Roshan and Ashwariya Rai bachchan had their last 3 films declared as flops (Saawariya, Kites and Action Replayy respectively). It is amazing how all 3 of them came together to make a magical journey called “Guzaarish”. The fate of the film is still to be decided at the box office but in my personal opinion, this one is the most passionately crafted film I have ever seen.
The story starts off in a typical goan house, with Ashwariya Rai Bachchan (Sophia) waking up Hrithik Roshan (Ethan Mascarenas) and helping him with his morning routines. Ethan is a renowned magician who is now confined to a wheel chair and has a radio program called Radio Zindagi. Sophia, his care taker nurse for 12 years, Suhel Seth as Dr. Nayak who plays as the quadriplegic’s doctor, Shernaz Patel as Devyani Dutta, plays a lawyer and Ethan’s best friend and Omar Siddique played by Aditya Roy Kapur who wishes to learn magic from Ethan, are the main characters in the film. One fine day it occurs to Ethan to end his suffering and asks his dear friend lawyer to file a death petition. Of course, Ethan’s well wishers forbid him from taking this step but he continues to flirt with the thought. It’s a story about ethan’s life and how he lives it to the fullest. It’s a film that will make you fall back in love with life.
"Guzaarish" has passion right from the first frame and to add to it is the brilliant treatment given to it by Mr. Bansaali. Sanjay Leela Bansaali puts on the music directors shoes for the film, creating tracks that are in sync with the movie. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography leaves you spell-bound.
The movie is crafted art so to speak with exquisitely taken shots and the richness of the frames. Hrithik Roshan delivers a powerhouse performance and is the heart of the film, making it extremely lovable. Hrithik surely has some awards lined up his way. Ashwariya, looks gorgeous in her outfits and provides a decent helping hand in the movie. Rest of the cast is passable.
If you want to go and have fun at the cinemas then "Guzaarish" just isn’t for you. It will surely find its place in mature audience, it’s an attempt which will not be liked by everyone, but it is a sincere and touching film. I’m going with 4 out of 5 for Sanjay Leela Bansaali’s “Guzaarish”. Go rediscover life.

Anjaana Anjaani: Don’t watch it, It’s an order!!!
Sajid Nadiawala along with Eros international brings to us the most boring, most pathetic, most painful love story ever. Thought it might have recovered its money before the release with a brilliant marketing strategy but it completely fails to win the audience. The film is so bad that I just don’t understand where to start from.
Set in New York, the film starts with 2 loosers, Kiara (Priyanka Chopra) and Aakash (Ranbir Kapoor) both trying to commit suicide on the same bridge at the same time. Aakash, a stock market professional gets bankrupt when the markets crash, leaving a loan of 12 million on his company. Kiara on the other hand gets cheated by her childhood love Kunal (Zayed Khan). A series of lame suicide attempts by the leads proves unsuccessful, which makes them believe they wait till the new year for suicide finale.
Watching “Anjaana Anjaani” is a painful experience, so bad that u might also consider giving your life away. Claimed as a romantic comedy, the film lacks both solely because of the uncertainty of almost everything. In the name of comedy it gives you a string of regressive jokes which are hard to laugh at. As far as the romance is concerned, it can be called as the most unromantic love story of all times.
The film has no script, and is weakly executed. Even the leads couldn’t do anything due to badly defined roles. Love story’s only work on treatment because it has nothing special to offer with the story, the makers of “Anjaana Anjaani” failed to understand this and only worked on the fancy locations and promotion strategies.
The only ace in the film is the music by duo Vishal – Shekhar which also you will hate at the end of such a terrible experience. The blame of this debacle goes on the director of the film (Siddharth Anand) who had got no clue what he was making. And to top it all it is 2 hours 32 minutes long making you kill yourself in the cinema hall.
I am going with a half out of five for Siddharth Anand’s “Anjaana Anjaani”, it’s predictable, boring and one of the worst films made this year.

Khichdi-The Movie movie review
Khichdi-The Movie: Fans are in for a tasty treat.
They are back, this time on the big screen. The famous Indian sit-com “Khichdi” which started in the early 2000’s is the first Indian sit-com to make it to the silver screen. I am a big Khichdi fan, so this review might be a bit biased. Frankly speaking, this film is only for Khichdi fans.
The story starts at a camp, the 2 smartest members of the Parekh family “Jacky” and “Chakki” tells a story of the dumbest family on the planet. Their story starts with the family doing their routine madness. Babuji (Anagh Desai) being treated disrespectfully by each and every member of the family, Jayshree’s (Nimisha Vakharia) never ending gossips. The pudding head, Hansa’s (Supriya Pathak) , the pillock, praful (Rajeev Mehta) and his lame explanations and finally Himanshu (Jamnadas Majethia) hansa’s brother, a caterer by profession equally stupid like all the other members of the family. The story revolves around himanshu’s dream of making his love story legendary. There is another equally absurd family in the neighborhood, the family of ‘parminders’. After getting rejected by a number of girls, one of the lady parminder from the parminder family finally agrees to tie a knot with Himanshu, just then himanshu realizes that his love story is simple and does not have any drama. The plot is basically what the Parekh family does to make it a great love story as per himanshu’s dream.
It’s a fun ride with all the typical khichdi jokes and the insanity, some are sure to throw you off your seat. Khichdi’s humour may be repetitive but it has achieved cult status as it created a new genre of humour. The patent dialogues and mannerisms of the Khichdi characters bring a lot of humour to the movie.
Aatish Kapadia, the writer and the director of the film, has done a terrific job. He knows his actors well and has produced excellent comic timing. The music is a sore point but I’m fine with it, I never expected good music.
The whole cast is splendid and they know what they are doing, though I missed Vandana Pathak (Jayshree in the serial). Fans just can’t miss this one, for others it may be an average experience.
It’s a 3.5/5 for Aatish kapadia’s “Khichdi”, go for it, it’s really tasty.

Dabangg movie review
Dabangg: A Salman Khan vehicle
Last year it was Boney Kapoor who brought us the immensely successful “Wanted”, this year Arbaaz Khan along with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision is trying to create the same magic all over again. Are they successful in doing it? Yes, their brilliant marketing strategy has worked, packing the theatres in advance bookings itself. Do you need a mind frame to go for this movie? Yes you do, you can’t complain about the senseless, over the top action and the predictable story.
Set in Uttar Pradesh the story is about a fearless, corrupt cop, Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) who thinks that he is Robinhood and likes to call himself Robinhood Pandey. Beating the bad guys in a style that only Rajnikanth can do is Pandey’s forte. A mother , a step father and a step brother is only what pandey has until he finds a village damsel, Rajjo(Sonakshi Sinha). Pandey has his own funny way of dealing with love like he does with every other thing. Like every other masala film, Dabangg also has a villain played by Sonu Sood (Cheddi Singh), a corrupt politician, who messes up with our fearless protagonist.
The story is nothing but of an out an out action flick having the same ingredients. But you don’t go for the story in such kind of film. Here comes the role of Salman Khan and boy oh boy, Salman takes the film to such heights that such repeated cinema becomes a joyful experience. May it be the pedestrian dance portions, the funny-serious dialogues, the style of keeping his ray ban’s, Salman carries everything and every moment in style.
Another ace is the film’s music, by the duo Sajid-Wajid giving the audience more reasons to whistle and squall. Munni badnaam stands out of all the tracks primarily because of Maliaka Arora Khan. The crowd is sure to go crazy for this one.
Sonakshi Sinha is static in her acting but no one really is interested in anything other than salman khan. Sonu Sood is merely passable. Nothing great about rest of the cast.
If it wasn’t for Salman Khan than this would have been just another crappy bollywood film. Go for it, solely because of Salman

Aisha movie review
Aisha: has nothing to offer apart from its fashion.
Aisha, directed by Rajshree Ojha, is a modern day adaption of the 19th century British novel, Emma, by Jane Austen set in the upper class society of Delhi. Expectations were of a light hearted comedy but like most films, it didn’t quite work well. With a predictable story, you have to excel in other areas which Aisha has failed to do, leaving the audience high and dry.
Aisha (Sonam Kapoor) is a Delhi girl having one problem that everybody’s problem is her problem. Sonam plays a very judgmental character, interfering in other’s life and influencing them. Basically, the film has no story, its just about this bratty, rich Delhi girl and the silly things that almost high society girl does. Louis Vuitton , Christian Dior designer clothes, stilettos, L’Oreal cosmetics, parties, picnics are Aisha’s daily routine. Her two sidekicks and her best friends, (Ira Dubey ) Pinky Bose, a sarcastic rich brat and (Amrita Puri) Shefali Thakur, a simple middle class Haryana girl, whom aisha’s wants to change into her Xerox. There is Abhay Deol (as Arjun Burman), who is Aisha’s sister’s brother in law, who always stops her from interfering in other’s life. There is Cyrus Sahukar (Randhir Gambhir), the foolish mithai shop hier who is in love with Aisha, but Aisha’s tries to set him up with her Haryanvi best friend. When things go awry, Aisha is made to rethink about the idea of mis-matching when another endeavor of her mis-matching plans goes down.
The first half is fresh and refreshing with Cyrus Sahukar’s great comic timing but it story drags in the second half having nothing to offer. Abhay Deol is completely wasted, though he is spontaneous, Sonam Kapoor is good not great. Amrita Puri is very good as the middle class Haryanvi girl. Cyrus Sahukar is great with his comic timing as earlier mentioned. Rest of the cast is passable.
The film has got some very fashionable moments styled by Pernia Qureshi (the designer). Apart from the fashion, it has nothing special and at the end you lose interest in what’s going on. Go for it if you are a Sex And the City fan or if you have a stomach for chick flicks, otherwise it’s definitely a pass.
